Kriváň is located in west part of the High Tatras mountains towering at the end of the long ridge of Krivanska Razcocha- the main ridge of the High Tatras mountains. Krivan (2494 meters above sea level) is the symbol of freedom in Slovakia and a common poet´s motif. If you climb to Krivan´s peak you can see a memorial desk, where information are written about the Sturovci journey. There are some other ridges which start from this peak. The south-west one leads to Vyssa and Nizsa Priehyba and to Grunik. The south ridge heads towards Nad Pavlovu via Dexnerovo sedlo (saddle) and Maly Krivan. The Krivan massif is full of miner´s galleries which proofs miner´s activity in this area.
